Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier

The Flower and Garden Show returns to Navy Pier from March 10 – 18, 2012 with a unique and exquisite new theme: Hort Couture. Flowers and fashion have a lot in common and guests to this year’s show can expect to be enveloped with vibrant colors, rich textures and jaw-dropping and inspirational designs.

This year at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, the worlds of fashion and horticulture will collide, creating an experience that rivals the hottest runway show or A-list after party. With everything from Educational Seminars to Featured Gardens and even Garden Gourmet demonstrations, there is sure to be something for every horticulturist – professional or novice – in Chicago!

Educational Seminars

Top horticulture experts and professionals from academia, business and garden centers are among the bevy of experts who will share insights at free seminars held daily. Topics range from landscaping, annuals and perennials to planting techniques, organic gardening and much more.

Garden Gourmet

All Garden Gourmet demonstrations take place in a garden setting and on a professional cooking stage. Demonstrations are held four times daily, Monday through Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30p.m., and three times on Sundays.

Demonstrations last from 45 to 90 minutes and all recipes are prepared live for attendees. Chefs often choose to highlight favorite recipes featuring garden fresh and natural ingredients.

Audiences reach upward of 250 people who have the chance to interact with celebrity chefs before, during, and after the demonstration.

Created and designed by acclaimed landscapers and horticultural professionals, the gardens will be lush and, quite simply, make visitors say “wow”! Whether a suburban yard or a smaller urban plot, you’ll be stimulated with a wide range of gardens and landscape styles.

From exotic flowers and plants to more common foliage … paving stones … decks … ponds … and more, the gardens will be about variety blended with practical fantasy. Visitors will experience sleek, lush and creative as well as- with a little imagination -the affordable.

    This year was a huge disappointment to me and my friends. I expected to see FLOWERS AND GARDENS, but instead we were flooded with “buy this” and “buy that” displays.
