A perfect fit for green thumbs of all sizes, your entire family can ditch its cabin fever and dig into fun at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, presented by Mariano’s, March 15-23 at Navy Pier.
The stroller-friendly show will have kids of all ages blooming with curiosity. From the vibrant and whimsical display gardens with water features and fish ponds, to an entertaining and educational Kids’ Activity Garden, the show is a great way to foster a lifelong appreciation for gardening, nature and ways to be good to the earth.
Sponsored by JULIE One-Call System, the Kids’ Activity Garden will include an indoor playground (complete with swings and sandbox), daily arts and crafts and a creepy-crawly bug zoo. University of Illinois Master Gardeners will provide demonstrations ranging from worm composting to an introduction to vegetable gardening and Home Depot will offer a daily project, where children can make-and-take their own containers to kick off the Midwest growing season.
After youngsters finish flexing their “green thumbs,” they can check out Navy Pier’s more than 50 acres of parks, promenades, gardens, shops, restaurants and attractions, including the Chicago Children’s Museum and Amazing Chicago’s Funhouse Maze.
