Fishing Chicago at Navy Pier!

We’re talking about fishing Chicago, of course! Come to the Pier early, watch the sun rise and cast your lines into Lake Michigan in hope of catching some of Chicago’s biggest perch, salmon, bass and trout!

Those looking to fish may do so along Navy Pier’s Southwest wall and the always popular North Dock area.

Save on early morning parking!

Between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., anyone with a valid fishing license who shows it to  Navy Pier’s Standard Parking garage office may receive parking validated for only $5. Cars must be out of the garage by 10 a.m. in order to receive the discount.

Don’t worry if you don’t pull in the biggest fish either, you can always come back tomorrow and try your luck again!

Navy Pier’s fireworks are coming back! That means it’s time to save a Wednesday or Saturday night to come out to Navy Pier and enjoy the fireworks display with your significant other, family, friends, etc. It is a nice little get-away from your crazy day.

Fireworks!

Navy Pier fireworks throughout the summer are very popular. They are not only seen from the heart of downtown Chicago, Navy Pier, but anywhere along the lakefront. The fireworks can also been seen from a cruise off of Navy Pier! It is the perfect way to see the fireworks and to also see the skyline at night. There is nothing comparable to seeing our beautiful city’s skyline illuminated  at night!

Begin Memorial Day weekend!

The fireworks will begin Memorial Day weekend on May 26^th and will run through Labor Day weekend. Fireworks shows will run on Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday nights at 10:15 p.m. The times and days are subject to change or cancellation! Please note that while the city no longer has its July 3^rd fireworks show, Navy Pier will offer a spectacular fireworks display on Independence Day, July 4^th. Although the fireworks conclude after Labor Day weekend, you are able to catch them again on New Year’s Eve, but why wait so late? Enjoy them over the summer with the beautiful summer breeze!

The Tall Ship Windy at Navy Pier presents The Comedy of Errors as you’ve never seen it before!  Take to the seas for this fast-paced, high-energy performance of Shakespeare’s classic comedy.  Combine the Tall Ship Windy and some good ‘ole Shakespeare and you’ve got an adventure waiting to happen!

What is Unrehearsed Shakespeare, asks thee?

Performing in the Unrehearsed Cue Script Technique with only their lines to guide them, these actors use cues and clues within the Elizabethan language to tell the story without a director’s orchestration.

The result is an interactive audience experience full of intrigue, wonder, and surprise!

Experience this exciting live performance from the decks of Windy, where the show is performed throughout the ship and all around you!

The Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company

The Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company brings you The Comedy of Errors – this quintessential tale of mistaken identities and classic Elizabethan light comedy.

This will also mark Unrehearsed Shakespeare’s most challenging venue to date: a ship at sea! (at lake, technically). The performers will have a sail of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes to complete the performance while on a moving ship.

Get ready for some good ol’ fashioned “Wait, if you’re here, then who… I thought you were… whuh?”

Tall Ship Windy Presents: Unrehearsed Shakespeare!

Cirque Shanghai is returning to Navy Pier! It was a hit last year and is returning to Chicago with a new  show: The Year of the Dragon!

Year of the Dragon!

This all ages show will feature performers that are direct from China! They are known for their tumbling, juggling, balancing, and so much more! The show will also feature inspiring acts from Bike Balances, Hoop Diving, Teeterboard, Wheel of Death, and Group Chair Stack.

“Imperial Thunder” will also be in attendance! They are a daredevil motorcycle company. There will be five motorcyclists that will ride at break-neck speeds in a steel globe. It is a death-defying act and simply an amazing sight to see! Last year, the Chicago Tribune stated, “Excellent production values, a warm spirit and some terrific athletes” and “awe-producing gasps and thrills…amazing” stated, Time Out Chicago. Last year was a success and with the addition of new acts and talent it can only get better!

Shows begin May 24, 2012!

There are plenty of shows for everyone to enjoy! Yes, there’s more than one show! If you attend a show Wednesday or Saturday night, you will be able to enjoy Navy Pier’s beautiful fireworks afterward! The Cirque Shanghai will be on the Pepsi Skyline® Stage that seats up to 1,500. However, it is an open-air theater and will take place rain or shine! We hope you will join us to experience this wonderful event!

If given the opportunity to perform on Navy Pier, one will perform on either the Family Pavilion Stage, Dock Street Stage, or at various spots around the Pier itself. Wherever one performs, it will be a great experience and an amazing way to get noticed!

It does not end there! For those interested, The Navy Pier Players hold auditions every spring! There are auditions held for all in-house cast members:

It is that time of year again, Chicago! The weather is starting to warm up which means that it’s time for everyone to start enjoying the great outdoors and beautiful scenery. There is no better way to enjoy all the sights that Navy Pier has than on a bicycle! So, let your hair down or take off those hats and let the breeze flow through your hair!

Bike and Roll Chicago at Navy Pier

Bike and Roll at Navy Pier has bikes and skates to rent by the hour, day or week. It is the best way to tour Chicago – from its neighborhoods to a leisurely jaunt along the Lakefront Bike Path – and get some exercise, too. Everyone has the option to go on their own, or join a guided tour! The tours begin on Memorial Day from Navy Pier at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 7p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. There are group discounts are available. All bikes include locks, maps, helmets and safety gear.

Guided Tours

There are a variety of tours available. There is the Amazing Lakefront Chicago Bike Tour. It is a tour along the lakefront that shows off all the great sights that include Lakefront Trail & Beaches, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo and much more. This is one to truly let the breeze hit your face as you ride (once you pedal into the wind, you’ll know what we mean).

 Friendly Neighborhood Bike Tour and Bikes @ Night Bicycle Tour

The title speaks for itself; you will bike through the Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park neighborhoods while making stops at various historical spots along the way. Then there is the most popular, Bikes @ Night Bicycle Tour. This tour delves into the nightlife scene of Chicago and concludes with a prime vantage point of the Navy Pier fireworks display! There is nothing like seeing Chicago and its night-time lights.
