Chicago’s Perfect 10 is an interesting mix. Not only will runners get the satisfaction and joy of running a 10K or 10-mile, but they will also get to run along beautiful Lake Michigan while taking in fantastic views of Chicago!
Running along Lake Michigan from Navy Pier!
The race, held on Saturday November 12, will be run on the path next to Lake Michigan. Starting toward the rear of Navy Pier, runners will sprint past Chicago landmarks like Buckingham Fountain, Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Grant Park, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Soldier Field and Northerly Island. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the first annual race, from native Chicagoans to out-of-towners.
There will be a few different races held. The 10-mile course stretches down from Navy Pier to a couple blocks past 31st Street to the south, and then back up the shore to Navy Pier. That race begins at 8 a.m. The 10K, which begins after the 10-mile runners take off, is a more modest 6.2 miles, from the pier, to around Solider Field, and back.
Kids can run, too!
Kids can run too. Children from Kindergarten to 7th grade can participate in a quarter-mile fun run around the perimeter of Navy Pier’s Festival Hall A. Also in that festival hall: a Quality of Life Expo, providing visitors with tools, products, and knowledge for a healthy and active lifestyle. That is not only held Nov. 12 (from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), but also on Thursday, November 10 (from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and Friday, November 11 (10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
Registration and Perks!
Registration for running in the 10-mile is $65 and for the 10K is $40. It is $12 for the kids run.
So… what do you get for running in the race? You know, other than chafed body parts? Perks galore! They include a finishers medal, commemorative long-sleeve shirt, access to post-race food and refreshments, digital photo proofs from Brightroom, and special offers to some of Navy Pier’s main attractions.
