The “Royal White Tiger Discovery exhibit” is a super-charged educational and entertaining exhibit for children and adults alike! You may have seen some of these animals at the some of the world’s premiere zoo’s, on Animal Planet, in Life Magazine, Late Night With David Letterman, and other places, but to see them up-close-and-in-person in an educational exhibit is an awesome experience!
The “White Tiger Discovery” program is a special designed exhibit and conservation education program whose goal is to promote and entice people to the many conservation issues involving the last five remaining species of tigers in the wild. This program exhibit has many features that are huge crowd pleasers.
Being able to see the keepers feed the tigers and conduct “Tiger Talks” is an event that you will not forget. It will likely spark the conservation too, by seeing what the tiger is all about.
This is achieved by applying the educational method dubbed “Recreational Learning”, and adding the keeper staff interaction ability based on the following study:
10 percent of what they hear.
30 percent of what they read.
50 percent of what the see.
90 percent of what they do.
So, what does this theory really mean? While reading and seeing information about the tigers on television or in zoo’s is great… it is by allowing the you to actually see the keepers interact and care for the tigers, that truly sparks the conservation meaning in all of us.
Currently there are only about 40 Royal White Tigers on exhibit in zoos throughout the United States, and less than 400 in the world, and none left in the wild. Navy Pier is proud to be able to bring and share these magnificent adult Royal White Tigers to the general public and to give you the opportunity to witness the personal connection that conversationalists and all the important work that they do.
