Moms: What to do with kids? | Navy Pier

Navy Pier has plenty of fun things for you and the kids to do before summer comes to a close and it’s back to school. Check out our tips for a great day at Navy Pier!

Beauty and the Beast- Chicago Shakespeare Theater

Experience the Disney classic onstage at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Beloved songs including “Be Our Guest” and “Belle” will fill CST’s Courtyard Theater, as Cogsworth, Lumiere and friends try to teach Beast the value of kindness in time to break the spell. This show is sure to entertain your family and will leave smiles on your kids’ faces. You can even meet the cast after the show! Performances run through August 26.

Chicago Children’s Museum

Children ages 10 and under are invited to come splash, climb, build and learn while they explore the award-winning Chicago Children’s Museum at Navy Pier. The Chicago Children’s Museum has three floors of nonstop fun for children to enjoy and with the extended summer hours, the fun can keep going all day long. To start planning your visit, visit the website at http://www.chicagochildrensmuseum.org/

Jammin’ with the Jellies

New this summer, check out Jammin’ with the Jellies- an all-day, all-ages party that is inspired by the Jellies exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium! Join in the underwater adventure and enjoy live music and a DJ dance party at the Clamshell Stage (located at the Family Pavillion) or check out the exciting Pop-Up Performances along the docks.

On Sundays from 1-4pm beside the Carousel, join Dave Herzog and his marionettes for our inaugural season of “Puppets in the Park.” Don’t forget to save your Navy Pier receipts! If you spend $100 or more at the Pier you may bring your receipts to guest services (located by the main entrance) to receive a free admissions ticket to the Shedd Aquarium (valued at $35).  For more information on this special offer, please visit www.navypier.com

Pier Park

Kids of all ages will enjoy a visit to Navy Pier’s Pier Park, home of the iconic Ferris wheel. Head over to the Musical Carousel and enjoy a ride on a whimsical work-of-art that recreates the Pier’s golden age of the 1920s. If your children are thrill-seekers, try out the Wave Swinger, an old-fashioned swing ride that towers forty feet over a pond of water. Then, head over to the 18-hole, Chicago-themed, mini-golf course and enjoy a pleasant putt-putt experience. Don’t forget a ride on the 15-story Navy Pier Ferris wheel, Navy Pier’s most visible attraction. To purchase tickets visit http://www.navypier.com/things2do/rides_attract/pier_park.html
