What is a Really Big Halloween Party at Navy Pier?
“So, let me get this straight: it’s the Somewhat, Fairly, Decent-Sized Halloween Party?”
“No, it’s Navy Pier’s Really Big Halloween Party!”
All the events scheduled for the party make the moniker fit. There will be treats handed out, live music and dancing in the Family Pavilion, photo opportunities, and a lot more to keep you entertained at Navy Pier’s Really Big Halloween Party.
Magician Dennis Watkins performs Houdini’s Water Chamber Escape!
One of the highlights of the three-week long party is magician Dennis Watkins, who will perform Harry Houdini’s Dreaded Upside Down Water Chamber Escape every day of the Halloween bash. That means Watkins, a Chicago magician, will recreate Houdini’s stunt 10 times over the course of the party. Don’t worry, though. He’s a trained professional.
Halloween Costume Contest & Scavenger Hunt!
Also scheduled is the Halloween costume contest, so whether you are a child, teenager or adult, start thinking of a costume to win what is sure to be a fantastic prize. Be creative; you can shoot for a scary costume, or a humorous one if you so choose.
Always fun and possibly spooky Halloween-themed scavenger hunt will be held.
Fireworks and Entertainers
Fireworks show is slated every Saturday night at 9 p.m. Who says fireworks are only for the Fourth of July and New Year’s? On October 29th, the fireworks will feature a Halloween theme soundtrack.
On Dock Street for every day of the event, there will be a range of side show attractions including a sword juggler, a bearded lady, fortune tellers, unicyclists, conjoined twins, and a human marionette show. Plus, according to Navy Pier, “Dr. P.W. Sellinger will ride his Curicycle” – it’s unclear what that is, but it sounds awesome.
In keeping with the scary and creepy theme of the day, you can visit a cemetery in Pier Park, gaze your eyes at Monkeyboy, Tigerlady, Birdman and the Human Lizard, and watch fire dancers.
Trick or Treating
For the last weekend of the Really Big Halloween Party, trick-or-treating is scheduled for four hours each day (Friday and Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.). Kids: grab that pillow case and come on down.
For maximum Halloween fun, a Really Big Halloween Party Pass will be for sale (price to be determined). The pass allows for rides in Pier Park, animal rides and a petting zoo in Gateway Park and admission to the Amazing Chicago Funhouse Maze.
Navy Pier’s Really Big Halloween Party is going to be quite a big party indeed! Do you have your costume ready?
