Philippine Fest Chicago | Neighborhoods of the World

Philippine Fest Chicago | Neighborhoods of the WorldIf you haven’t been down to Navy Pier yet for Neighborhoods of the World, what are you waiting for?! Our third annual cultural celebration began on February 17 and continues through April 7, featuring the performances, art, and food of many different Chicago neighborhoods. Plus, each Sunday’s events are free!

Next on the docket is a celebration highlighting Chicago’s Filipino community. Presented in conjunction with the Consulate General of the Philippines and the Philippine American Cultural Foundation, Philippine Fest Chicago will make its grand debut this Sunday, March 24 with performances by Sama Sama Project, PACF Performing Artsthe Apuli Brothers, GMA Pinoy TV, Hataw Pinoy Chicago, UIC-FIA Battle of the Bamboo contestants, Chicago Angklung Rondalla Ensemble, DePaul Asian Cultural Exchange, Hinsdale Fil-Am SDA Rondalla, Transfiguration Dance Troupe, St. Isidore Simbang Gabi Dance Crew, and more!

All of the performers are amazing, but here are two to really watch out for! The Sama Sama Project is one of Chicago’s premier Filipino folk infusion bands. The band consistently performs to sold-out audiences and often collaborates with local artists, living up to its name, which translates into “united, together.” PACF (Philippine American Cultural Foundation) Performing Arts is a local youth group that aims to promote Filipino culture through dance, music, and art with performances that will definitely take your breath away!

Along with the performances, you’ll also be able to try some Filipino cuisine, courtesy of Sunda New Asian Restaurant.  Just named one of the top 100 restaurants in Chicago, this downtown eatery features Eastern Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine with a mix of simple, yet flavorful dishes.

With lively, unique performances and Filipino cuisine bursting with warmth and flavor, Philippine Fest Chicago has something for everyone!  Join us this Sunday in Navy Pier’s Crystal Gardens from noon to 5 p.m. to celebrate Chicago’s dazzling Filipino culture!
