Summer is every kid’s favorite time of year. Warm weather, no homework, and tons of free time—sounds good to us! But while Mom and Dad would like the kids to get out of the house and into the backyard, kids have their own ideas on the best ways to spend summer vacation, and yes, that often means lots of TV and video games.
It’s time for a compromise and we have the perfect solution! Take a trip down to the Chicago Children’s Museum at Navy Pier! CCM has so much to offer that your kids will quickly forget about all their electronics and gadgets! And now’s the perfect time to visit because the warm summer months bring in many new exhibits!
CCM’s newest exhibit, Ready, Pet, Go! gives kids an opportunity to switch places with their pet for a day! They’ll get their imaginations working as they act, climb, and dress like their favorite furry friend in a child sized pet home. And when you visit on Tuesdays, you’ll get a special visit from a live animal courtesy of the Anti-Cruelty Society!
CCM’s Tinkering Lab, Chicago’s first DIY workplace for both kids and adults, will keep the brain learning even in the summer (shh don’t tell the kids!) with real tools and no technology! Take the Pegboard Challenge or pound away at the Tool Bar. CCM even has an Early Learning Nook for the little ones!
Play every day in CCM’s open play Pritzker Play space! This playground was created especially with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in mind and is a great spot for adults to make new friends too!
The Chicago Children’s Museum is open daily with extended summer hours: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday – Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday – Saturday. For more information on tickets and specific exhibits, check out CCM’s calendar or visit the CCM website.
Or become a member! Membership gives you and your family unlimited access to CCM for a whole year and saves money too!
