Over the course of his nearly thirty-five year comedy career, Tim Kazurinsky has gone by many names. There’s Dr. Jack Badofsky, the SNL Weekend Update health specialist who warned the public about all sorts of ridiculously named illnesses, Mr. Landlord in Eddie Murphy’s ‘Mister Robinson’s Neighborhood’ sketch, the husband of a chimp in the ‘I Married a Monkey’ sketch, impersonations like Mahatma Gandhi, Ozzy Osbourne, and yes, even pro female tennis player, Billie Jean King. Oh and who could forget the geeky Officer Carl Sweetchuck from Police Academy.
But when he takes the stage at Navy Pier’s Four Star Comedy Fest on October 6 as the honorary host, he’ll just be appearing as the multi-talented Tim Kazurinsky.
If you didn’t know, Tim is a proud Chicago resident—well, technically he lives in Evanston with his wife, two kids, and many pets—but after stints in Australia, where he spent most of his childhood, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, and New York, it’s safe to say Chicago is his favorite place on the map.
Tim did a little bit of everything, from newspaper reporting to copywriting, before landing on his lucrative comedy gig. He moved to Chicago in the late seventies and joined the cast of The Second City, which led to his three-year stint at SNL as a writer and cast member and his many acting and screenwriting credits.
He’s never forgotten his comedy roots though, which is why he’s headed to Navy Pier for our Four Star Comedy Fest bonanza and we couldn’t be more excited!
