It’s time for the boats at Navy Pier to take the spotlight! On Saturday, September 6, Navy Pier will partner with the Chicago Yachting Association and Broadway in Chicago to bring the 55th annual Venetian Night to Lake Michigan, this time to the tune of your favorite Broadway musicals. Venetian Night is a unique Chicago tradition that consistently draws in locals and tourists alike to experience a boat parade like no other.
Inspired by popular boat parades during Christmas time in Venice, the Venetian Night boats are adorned with lights and decorations to reflect each year’s theme. This year, the boats will each be decorated to reflect different Broadway musicals, and you can bet that you’ll be dancing to Broadway tunes, as well! So which musicals can you expect to see? A handful of favorites include Wicked, South Pacific, Annie, The Little Mermaid, Grease, The Phantom of the Opera, The Wiz, The Student Prince, The Lion King, Let It Be, Motown The Musical and, of course, Chicago!
The parade will begin at 8:30 p.m. from Navy Pier’s South Dock, where viewers can watch the illuminated vessels dance by in full costume! Fireworks will follow the impressive boat parade, keeping the summer night lit and the show everlasting. During the parade, vote for your favorite Broadway-inspired boat through a Facebook poll or on Twitter using #BoatVoteNP. May the best boat win!
Come to Navy Pier on September 6th to witness one of the oldest and most treasured Chicago events as our boats take the stage and give the performance of a lifetime!
